I love to teach art with a great deal of 'making' and being creativity involved in the process. I find there is a craft or an art process to suit everyone, it's all about finding your creative language and creative signature. Furthermore, I use a guided discovery technique which is based around guiding learners to resource materials and to begin asking appropriate questions about their work, and then to gently move to one side to allow the learner to take control. Art making can be dynamic with lots of colour and texture, or it can be gentle and calm with soft marks and shading. My teaching is about finding a balance of your own creative expression and good practice and training. Ultimately, everyone can make a creative and expressional response to the world around them.
I am not a big fan of the thought that 'only people who are gifted can create art or design'. Creativity and creative practice is a personal experience, and I believe everyone holds a sense of creative thinking or creative output—no matter the presentation or style.
I am a big advocate for 'progress and not perfection'.
I look forward to finding out your creative instincts and expression and to work with you soon.
