Lindsay in a nutshell
I am a fully qualified teacher with a BA Hons and PGCE. I have taught in primary, secondary, state and private schools. I am a fully qualified teacher with a BA Hons and PGCE. I have taught in primary, secondary, state and private schools. Between teaching in schools and becoming a self-employed private-tutor, I worked as a full-time private-home-tutor for a high-net-worth family. I am married with children and now love working as private-tutor because it gives me a great home/work-life balance whilst still doing the teaching that I love.

Despite having a broad range of teaching skills and experience, as a private-tutor, I have specialised in Key Stage (KS) 2 (Yrs. 3-6) including the exams that the children take within this KS (11+ & Yr. 6 SATs). As a specialist tutor of only one Key Stage, I can maximise and focus all my time and resources into materials and knowledge for this one particular area.

My areas of skill include:

Yr. 3:

* Supporting the step-up from ‘infants-Juniors’ enabling struggling children to jump ahead with English and maths.

Yrs. 4 & 5:

*11+ prep. (eps. Kent Test but also other counties 11+ and Independent Schools 11+ entrance exams - I do not now tutor for the Medway Test) maths, English, verbal & non-verbal reasoning. The Kent Test makes up the majority of my tutoring work and I have a very high pass rate for this test achieving 100% pass rate for 4/7 years I have been tutoring for this exam including last year.

*General support with English & maths for confidence and progress.

Yr. 6:

*Yr. 6 SATs exams which as well as their teacher assessment will play a big role into which sets they are placed when they start at their chosen secondary school.

*Readying them for the transition into Yr. 7 at their chosen secondary school.

I conduct my online lessons using zoom, I transferred to this method from in-person tutoring in my home in 2020 due to the lockdown and I haven't looked back. My high pass rate for the 11% has remained the same and last year was 4/7 years that I have been tutoring for the 11+ Kent Test that I received 100% pass rate for my students.

To support with primary English, maths, reasoning or eleven plus tuition I use a variety of online-books that I pay license fees to use. We can study these books together, annotate them online all the while talking and seeing one another. It is better than being together and all from the familiarity and convenience of your own home! I email homework each week that supports what we have done together in our sessions. For the Kent Test I do require students to purchase a couple of specific inexpensive workbooks that I find incredibly useful and can become the students manual for all the different type of 11+ questions that they will face in their exam. I won't move on from any theme we are studying until a child feels really confident and I can see the necessary progress has been made and level of understanding required achieved. Even after we move away from a specific theme I will continue to revisit them to ensure nothing has been forgotten and their confidence with the theme remains high.

I warmly welcome any enquiries.
