I have previously tutored for Higher English, which was catered for a dyslexic student (but can be adapted to any learning type) involving discussing key objectives and persuasions for essays and helping solidify said concepts into structured essays. I helped her learn how to materialise her inner thoughts and express them convincingly. This is a flexible approach. In regards to History and Philosophy, I can teach Nat5, Higher, or Advanced Higher and aim to verbally discuss ideas as to broaden perspectives and learn the skill of the counterargument, before writing down these debates and moulding them into structured essays. I can aid in memorising tips and sharing my previous essays (which all gained an A1) to give an idea of the approach the SQA seek. I am open to any suggestions and happy to mould my lessons and approach to fit the student perfectly!! History and Philosophy stand out to me due to their reliance on acknowledging and respecting opposing viewpoints and articulating why one opposes said viewpoints. I think that learning and respecting differing viewpoints is key to being a good, educated person, which is why I am so keen to tutor these subjects as they have been pivotal in my life and have the ability to be so for others. I think that History especially is the most important and exhilarating subject and really wish to spark a passion for History within others!
