I use a variety of different materials to conduct my lessons. I focus on teaching in ways that benefit to my students individual learning needs (auditory, visual, kinaesthetic etc). I do this by preparing before each lesson with the materials I will need.
For example, for visual learners i emphasise on visual presentations, antimations and drawings. For an auditory learner I would focus heavily of talking through each subject and topic, making them repeat phrases and terms back to ke so I make sure they understand.
For kinaesthetic learners I would encourage physical activities or gestures that would help them improve memory and retention of certain words.
My aim is to create a good relationship with the individual, so that they feel confident in my lessons, so they are able to ask questions and feel comfortable talking about any queries.
My previous experience in working with child has allowed me to do this. As I am the oldest of 4 siblings, I grew up surrounded by children. I have volunteered in a nursery for a few days and I found it really rewarding and interesting. Furthermore, my experience as a volunteer ‘buddy’ system in my sixth form allowed me to gain experience in being a mentor for someone younger than me. Lastly, I have studied Psychology at a degree level. And I understand how important learning and creativity is vital in the development of young people’s minds.
I don’t have any previous specific experience teaching a someone, however I have high levels of enthusiasm, motivation, and I am wanting to go into a career of working with young people.
