The lesson will start with a warm up activity so that they are in the mindset for the lesson.
We will then pick a topic which the student is uncomfortable with and start with the most basic steps and questions.
I will teach the steps needed and demonstrate the thought process to an example question.
The student will also have a turn at answering a different question independently.
This repeats with questions of harder difficulty which will then be applied to an exam question from previous papers to test their skills.
Throughout the session, if need be, the student is very welcome to have breaks as I understand maths can cause mental strain- therefore we may wind down with a fun maths related or simple activity such as a game for their well being towards the end of the session. This will not be charged for,
After a series of sessions, the students skills will be tested in a mock paper in order to identify an mistakes or weaknesses that can be addressed in a warm up activity or its own session.
The previous topic will be the basis of the next sessions warm up activity to continue their active recall of different skills.
Content will be provided from either their exam board materials such as textbook and specification or other maths websites.
I will also use my own knowledge as a student who has just done their Maths and Further Maths GCSE and provide appropriate and helpful advice.
I will be diligent and aid the student, giving hints when needed to encourage their confidence throughout maths.
