Lianna Thomas-Forbes

I have taught in classrooms and online, for large groups and 1-to-1, at home and abroad. In fact, if it has anything to do with English teaching, I have probably done it! I have been teaching English for 10 years, mostly in the UK and Saudi Arabia. I have taught students from all types of language backgrounds, including French, Spanish, Italia, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korea, and more. Most of my experience has been at college and university level, but I also have some experience teaching younger students, between the ages of 11 and 16 years old.

My teaching methods are quite flexible. I like to gauge the areas in which students require the most development and go from there. I try to make lessons as interactive and engaging as possible, using relevant and relatable content whenever possible. My lessons start with a basic introduction to a topic, at which stage I'm able to test the student's existing knowledge, before moving on to a variety of controlled and then free practice activities. once the student feels confident with the topic, we will move on to production in the form of writing, speaking or both.

I am very patient and have a friendly and relaxed demeanour, as it is extremely important that students feel comfortable in lessons. Questions and mistakes are welcomed and even encouraged, as they are an essential part of learning.
