Originally from a small town in the North-East of Italy, at 16 years old I was awarded a scholarship to attend the United World College (UWC) in the Netherlands, leaving the Italian school system where I was pursuing Classical and Literary studies. I then attended the University of St Andrews in Scotland, graduating with a first class degree in Sustainable Development. My own experience across different educational systems and in global environments inspired me to work towards helping others’ to pursue similar opportunities for exchange and growth.
In the past few years, I have been tutoring Italian high school students with special needs and English students enrolled in the Italian degree course. Alongside that, I supported adults and practitioners looking to upskill in either Italian or English language. My knowledge of languages is strong grammatically and conversationally, building on my experience and study of Italian literature and English Language and Literature within the IB diploma course.
I see education and professional development as forms of continuous engagement with and within the world around us. A tutor’s work is not to give all the answers and a precise direction, but to present the student with different pathways through which they can navigate to their desired place; this is the mindset I try to adopt when supporting students and professionals in my work. I like to develop a tailored plan to each person, their context and needs. I have extensive experience in curriculum development and lesson planning, and my teaching style is very personal and focused on dialogue.
