The dynamic of an hour-long lesson would be 15 minutes of grammar, 15 minutes of vocabulary and 30 minutes of conversation, where the student would be able to practise the rules just learned.
My goal would be to tailor the conversation to my student, creating discussions about topics of their interest, to keep them engaged and motivated.
I would then assign small exercises to ensure continuity until the following lesson, where we would quickly repeat what has been learned previously and go from there.
I have experience with teaching Italian to a native English teenager who was starting from the very basics.
