I have a degree in English Literature and Language, a TEFL and TESOL certification, and a ProfELE certification to teach Spanish. My deep understanding of both English and Spanish is related to the fact that I am also a professional literary translator. I am passionate about languages, literature, teaching, and helping others, and whenever these four aspects converge, it is very rewarding for me. I have taught English and Spanish for nearly five years, both independently and in schools. My experience teaching Spanish has been broad enough that I have had American, English, Romanian, and Chinese students. I enjoy teaching online the most because it allows us to explore the possibilities that technology provides, one of them being the possibility to interact internationally.
I believe that my creative, empathic, goal-oriented, and assertive personality allows me to share my knowledge more efficiently, as I make sure to create an environment that facilitates learning by reducing anxiety, encouraging autonomy, and adapting each class to the student’s educational needs and preferences. Each one of my students has obtained positive results and reached their goals in less than a year because I focus on developing abstract thinking, that is, on working with ideas rather than translations, thus approaching the language as a logical system, so that the students become able to think in the language, not simply speak it. Furthermore, I have broad sociological, philosophical, and cultural knowledge, which contributes to my classes by providing me with tools to develop an abstract approach to languages as social constructs and cultural reflections.
