I have a patient yet assertive teaching style, where I will initially consult with my students in order to approximate their English level according to their grade and read their previous writing. From there, I will plan lessons in line with their studied texts and equip them with suitable techniques, model essays and paragraphs with specifically catered feedback in order to ensure they are progressing in the manner they should be. If the student chooses to do so, I will be able to provide them with weekly feedback to both them and their parents if they choose where I will summarise their engagement, work ethic and approximate grade in order to keep track of whether they are progressing at the rate that they should be.
According to what the student wants to work on, we can target specific aspects of English, whether it be language and linguistics, essay writing, revision sessions or teaching the text by looking at specific chapters or acts and scenes in order to enhance their understanding and ensure that nothing is glossed over. Although I have had no official background in tutoring, I have worked with mentoring younger students at my school, specifically iGCSE and Year 12 A-Level students by sitting down and marking their writing, as well as providing them with notes and revision techniques in order to prepare them for exams!
