Leon Thompson

I teach people basic Drawing and sketching skills. I show examples of work, to give students an idea of what they can learn then take them through the process of learning step by step. I also help students to build confidence and to feel stronger about their work and practise, so they can go forth and produce quality independently, confidently. I mainly work with charcoal or pencil on paper.
My experience in the Arts I have a BA HONS in Interactive Arts, BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design and Graphic Design as well as a PTTLS Level 4 teaching qualification so my skillset is quite varied throughout Art and Design working from 2D to 3D working with wood metal and plastic, to sketching painting to design. I have also taught and run after School workshops for children and delivered Arts and Crafts to adults with mental illness. I currently teach Life Drawing to people to practise and improve their sketching within a traditional Art setting as well as a commercial setting which is mainly for fun but still using real techniques for Hen and Stag parties, birthdays weekends away etc.
Whilst teaching and working with students I make it my business to understand any insecurities and sticking points they may have and give them the reassurance that they can and will overcome any obstacles that may be in their way through practise and applying the right frame of mind long term so it becomes their second nature to permanently.
