I originally learnt to play drums at 13 after having lessons in trumpet and piano. I felt that drums really spoke to the angst I had as a teenager and safe to say it became something of a hobby for me growing up. It helped me create a positive mindset in order to continue my other hobbies and projects and to devlop focus in my school work. The use of regular practices really helped me to develop solid scheduling snd a sense of order in my life.
I then decided to study popular music in College and a Bachelor's in Music through University - which helped me specialise in effective workshop techniques. I have played with live bands and have recorded music since I was 16 and following my studies have been working to teach music to vulnerable people for a local charity.
I use a variety of versatile teaching methods in order to help students understand techniques and informal exercises which they can then practice at home. My students will receive worksheets and their very own drum journal which they can add to at their leisure. I often use notated music from Rockschool and Trinity college as they are the industry standard and are widely accessible. And if a student has their very own drum kit, I will happily help to soundproof and tune the drums so the neighbours won't make too many complaints!
I look forward to learning alongside you and getting the opportunityto spread the love of drums. Let's play!
