As an experienced primary teacher, I am well accustomed to using a range of teaching styles and approaches to meet the needs of the individual learner. Once established, we can work on meeting targets and pushing beyond these as I am a firm believer in the idea that targets are not just for reaching, but smashing.

I have taught children from age 5 to 12 across all areas of the curriculum. This has ranged from basic phonological awareness to writing full persuasive essays in literacy. Within these ends I enjoy teaching reading skills, writing skills and how to stand out using good listening and talking skills in presentation work.

I am also currently carrying out research in literacy as part of my Masters in Education, with a focus on writing skills. This ensures my approaches are up to date with recent literature and pedagogical advances.

As well as confidence in literacy, I am also passionate about numeracy and maths. I enjoy encouraging children to develop problem solving skills through this and apply what they have learned with me to new contexts, ensuring breadth and depth of their understanding.

As a mother of two myself and a teacher, I understand the importance and value of a good education and believe that no age is too young to be building on these foundations.
