My qualifications are BA (H) in Psychology and MA in Child, Youth and Family Studies. I have many years experience working with people with disabilities and across family support services. I like to use case studies and practical examples during my lessons which give real life examples of how to use theories. I have both frontline experience and management experience of working within social care and I have acted as a ‘Practice Educator’ for students while they are on placement within organisations. I have extensive knowledge of the area of Behaviour Support Plans, Wheel of Optimum Living Models and Positive Behaviour Support along with Person Centred Planning for the people we support. I can offer guidance with report writing, skills teaching and programme plans for activities along with interventions which are required for students on placement. I believe it is essential for a student to work alongside a tutor who is aware of the practical work and how theories and models fit into everyday practice along with supervision and continuous professional development for staff. Finally, I can offer guidance on optional and supplementary training which will bring the practical experience into more focus while also looking at available videos and resources which can be found online. I am looking forward to working with some students to assist them to become the best social care staff that they can be and also looking forward to sharing learning along the way. Please feel free to ask any questions or to gain more information.
