These sessions aim to make history fun, informative and learning it a great experience. Whether you are a beginner or someone who has studied history for years, I aim to create a tailored and creative tutoring experience for all students.
Lessons can range from a basic whistle stop tour of a topic to enable students to have basic context of the history, to an extensive analysis of a historical event or period depending on the level of understanding required.
The sessions can be a fun and interactive lesson with quizzes and pictures for the younger students, or a 1:1 seminar discussion of sources and events for university students.
The sessions are student centred and can be tailored to the students educational needs and level of proficiency needed on the topic. I am able to adapt to do short 30 minute sessions or up to 2 hour sessions at a time.
A typical session could be an exploration of the causes, events and consequences of a historical event such as The Battle of Hastings in 1066. This would include learning about the context of the situation, the key individuals involved and the historical interpretations of the event itself. Within this session there would be a presentation, discussion opportunities and quizzes and activities to help test understanding and consolidate the knowledge learned during the tutoring session.
Not only is it important that the student learns about history, but it is essential that they comprehend why it is important that we learn about it and why its important to modern society.
