I have developed relevant skills over the years of working and studying in the United Kingdom that
will help me excel in the lecturing role. Reflecting on my teaching experience, I have come to the
understanding that a teaching style that combines theory and practice is effective in enhancing
learning. Students are more engaged all through course delivery irrespective of the differences in
background and knowledge already acquired. My ideal teaching technique is the one that adopts
various, understandable techniques to impart knowledge to pupils in a way the knowledge is well
comprehended. Note, I use the phrase 'various and understandable techniques' in the context that
not all students learn at the same pace, environment and even under the same platform. Adopting
the appropriate teaching technique can help fill this gap. I believe that to be a great educator, one
must be able to communicate well with students, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and also
be approachable. One teaching technique I appreciate is applied knowledge. Applying a topic to an
everyday scenario every student can relate to has proven to be effective because the knowledge
gained through such a method lives with the student even after assessment.

As part of my core function as a lecturer, I design and plan my lesson, by making use of lesson plan to provide the formality and structure of the learning activities. My lesson plan is informed by the universal design for learning framework, because it allows me to structurally and logically capture the lesson aim, objectives and learning outcome.
