My lessons are practical and I try to bring them to life. I have several years of business experience and can call upon anecdotes and stories (sometimes funny) to emphasize or explain a point. I educate rather than teach, which can be about what students need to know beyond their syllabus to be able to use their knowledge in the everyday world. For example within Economics I may hold a discussion about current petrol prices/ stikes etc. and what can be done about them, delving also into historical issues. This will help students to perhaps prepare their answers in essay form if required. Discussions have been held about Brexit and its pros and cons.
I am very conscious of exam technique and like to review students answers to questions they have initially done elsewhere, while I also set homework. My lessons are also focused around exam technique.
I will ensure that the whole of the syllabus will be covered and nothing will be missed by the time the student sits his/her exam.
Students will be provided with free newspapers and newspaper articles relevant to the subject.
I keep up to date, with a commitment to CPD. This is particularly useful in Acounting and Business Studies. I try to avoid using jargon, or explain these terms.
