A lesson with me will be split equally into sections focusing of the four main language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

We will begin with speaking, focusing on a conversational register and vocabulary. I may have asked you in our previous session to do something that challenges your English skills, such as reading a new text, listening to something challenging, or having a conversation using language a little out of your comfort zone , which we may speak about, or simply have a normal conversation. This will build up your confidence in spontaneity, asking and answering questions, and thinking on your feet in English, as well as offering you a chance to ask questions about specific grammar, vocabulary, or pronunciation that your are unsure of, and for me to correct or suggest alternative phrases to you.

We will then move on to the reading and listening sections in which I will provide you with a text and a video or audio clip which we will go through together and then I will ask you some basic comprehension questions and maybe venture into broader questions asking for your opinions on the topic. The text and video will often be linked in their theme, and I will endeavour to choose themes well-suited to you, focusing on the range of language which you will find the most useful in day-to-day life. In these sections, there will also be time to ask about any words or sentences that you did not understand, and for me to explain them to you - and possibly suggest that you try to use them while practicing English outside of our lessons, or during the speaking section of our next lesson.

Finally, we will do a short writing task, trying to use as much of the new words and structures we have learned during that session. This writing task will, again, be adapted to the style and form of writing that would be most beneficial to you. At the end of the lesson, you would send me this piece of writing, and I would correct any mistakes on it, ready to go over it with you at the very beginning of our next lesson.
