Lauren Fox

I am a 22 year old Master’s student who has experience in mentoring. I mentored first year Criminology students in whilst undertaking my Criminology degree.

My role was to offer advice and feedback on any queries students had on composing their first university assignment.

Based on my previous experience, I believe it is important to understand the students’ needs and goals before developing lesson plans. As a student myself, I have learnt that I learn by doing.

As a masters student I believe I can help students…
- Understand their best methods for learning;
- How to stay motivated and positive during stressful situations;
- How to prioritise work loads (e.g homework/coursework etc);
- Set clear goals and educational achievements.

I may not be qualified as a ‘professional tutor’, but as I am a student myself I will have the ability to understand students’ viewpoints and to help them develop ways to improve educationally through methods I still do myself.
