Welcome to your 1:1 online English lessons! I’m Lauren, a vocational support worker with a strong commitment to excellence in delivering innovative, sustainable services that empower individuals to self-advocate. With an extensive academic background in Law and experience in designing personal development programmes for adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities, I’m dedicated to using my skills in research, writing, critical thinking, and project management enhance your learning experience.

Our sessions are designed as a collaborative partnership, ensuring that each lesson meets your specific needs and learning style. At the start of each lesson, we’ll review what you’d like to focus on. If your needs change, that’s perfectly fine—we’ll adapt on the spot. We’ll end each session by discussing your goals for our next meeting, so you always have a say in your learning path.

I am very interested in hearing your thoughts and perspectives. I believe the best way to learn English is through the exchange of ideas, where both teacher and learner grow together. Our lessons are dynamic and engaging, avoiding the traditional lecture format. Instead of just talking at you and expecting you to take notes, we’ll use a variety of methods to keep you actively involved. For instance, if you’re a visual learner, we might use images, objects of reference and videos illustrate concepts. If you prefer interactive approaches, we might incorporate brainstorming sessions and real-life contexts to make learning more relevant and engaging.

Although some sessions will be focused on essay writing and critical analysis on your set texts, we’ll make sure to mix it up and keep things interesting. For example, we can use collaborative writing tools to draft essays together in real-time, or we can break down the essay writing process into interactive activities such as debates, peer reviews and interactive roleplaying scenarios.
