I have two years previous experience in being a private tutor, as well as a year's experience working as an English tutor for a public children's program. I am currently enrolled at Southern New Hampshire University as an education major. At my previous university, I was an English major for two years. I currently work for a local, public after-school program for 11-18 year olds as an English tutor.
I do not have my teaching certification, but I am working towards a bachelor's degree in education with a minor in English.
Personally, I love teaching and being able to help children with their education. Teaching is a job that I have connected with on a personal level and I really enjoy the experience. In the classroom, I prefer to have my students work one-on-one with me or to have the whole class participate in answering questions during lessons. I find this approach to be encouraging for students to want to pay attention and focus on the lessons I teach. One-on-one time is very important for my students because it gives them a chance to really dig deep into the issues they are having with their learning. It allows me to, personally, give them the steps to achieving a mastered topic. Children are very eager to learn if you give them your time and walk them step-by-step through the process. They want to learn and are so willing to learn anything as long if someone, like their teachers, are willing to lift them up and provide the educational instructions they so desperately need.
