Every student is different, which means they learn in different ways. During the first session, it's necessary to asses not only their level at a certain subject but what methodology to use. During my time in Colombia teaching English I liked using shows and songs as a way to practice listening, creative stories for writing and speaking, and live practice for vocabulary. When talking about history I like igniting the student's passion for it, making history something fun and not a sore to learn. Visits to historical sites, movies, books and testimonies are a way to do that. Relating history to the student's life, experiences and interests is a way to memorize facts.
