I prepare lessons according to my audience. Pre school is songs, craft and games, Primary level use of song, written work, craft and games, Secondary involves written, listening and speaking, Adults tailored to business use or for leisure purposes. Resources for Secondary are exam board appropriate and for Primary, this level of resources are used. Personalised booklets or files are kept to refer to. Online learning is encouraged in free time or as homework or an additional challenge to stretch and extend learning. Each session has a starter, middle activity task and plenary to recap the lesson learning intentions. The next session is a mini recall of the previous session at the start to check for any lost knowledge.
Online learning is usually set or learning with a set book that's agreed in advance. Feedback is given on an ongoing basis and lessons can be at the speed that is comfortable to the student learning. I ensure the student is being challenged and guiding their learning by doing the work while I teach, this could be perfecting pronunciation, going through a reading comprehension, listening to a short video clip in French and translating. At the start of the learning journey with me, the student will set goals and we will regularly review these goals and either reduce, keep or add to them as the learning progresses over time. In some sessions the student may struggle but then they might excel in others, so encouraging bit sized chunks of information to learn is beneficial as it acts as a scaffold for the pupil's overall learning and aids consolidation of learning rather than overwhelming the student with too much information all at once.
