My name is Latrecia Green. I am a retired teacher from working in Miami Dade County Public Schools for 33 years. I worked those years a full time teacher working mainly with children that just arrived from Cuba by boat. That trip was a 90 mile journey to freedom for them and their families.
It was easy to teach them new skills because they we apprehensive about their new environment.
As my life began as a new teacher, I was facing
many obstacles. I found out every early in my career, in order to become a great teacher I had to learn the culture and language of my students whom just arrived to Miami in the 80s. It was also challenging because there weren't any books to meet the needs of my newly arrived students to America.
Therefore, in order to be successful in teaching my students, I had to create my own curriculum. I composed many fun games to teach the their vowel songs to comprehend how vowel work together to change a words pronounceation. I created more hands on activities. I reached out to the children by using real life experiences to create a happy and healthy environment! How to shop using ads. How to add using store flyers to shop by. I had many people to come and talk about their jobs and how to achieve a successful career. I also expose them to the many attractions that Miami offered.
