Ciao!
I love teaching my native Italian language and share my passion for my country's history and culture with my students.
I do not believe in a one-size fits all approach, and tailor my lessons to the student's personality and needs. Engagement and dialogue are the basis for a lesson that drives the learner to progress.
Over the years I have taught high school, university, adults, and business, and all levels from beginner to advanced.
With a PhD in Italian, I can also help university students improve both their language skills and knowledge of Italian literature, including the great medieval and Renaissance authors.
I am particularly passionate about working with adults, as it gives me more flexibility in tailoring the lessons to their special interests, be it travel, culture, food etc. I can also teach business and specialist Italian, such as Italian for the arts.
Helping children in multicultural families develop their Italian identity through language and culture is a passion of mine. I did that with my own daughter who blossomed academically and was admitted to Oxford. I believe that bilingual people face a very specific challenge, the risk of 'not belonging' when they travel to their country of origin because they were not taught the same history/geography/literature etc., and that it important to furnish them with the tools to 'belong.' I love to help my students overcome that challenge.
As I passed the selection to teach English in Italian schools, and have near-native confidence in English, I am also able to support Italian mother tongue students who want to improve their English.
