I had a very productive and insightful lesson with Lara. Her approach to teaching is outstanding. We began with a focus on flexibility and stretched out to feel in tune with the violin. Ease of movement is closely linked with the the ability to freely reproduce emotion through music so this was critical to playing well. I started learning the Sibellius violin concerto and I thoroughly enjoyed it. We played Bach together and Lara gave me great advice with mastering the correct fingerings and rhythm patterns. We listened to the pieces and gained a sense of how they're meant to be performed and critically analysed the different styles of playing. Throughout this process I felt that Lara had a large amount of expertise to offer and her musicality is exceptional. All in all the lesson I had was very useful and I feel like I learned a lot in a short space of time. Finally, I would recommend Lara as a tutor to anyone who is looking to hone their technical ability on the violin.

I had the great honor of studying with Lara Fang when I was a first year student in Durham university. Her beautiful violin’s sound really touched my soul. I AM SO GRATEFUL for those days. Such wonderful memories that sustain me now. Touched by greatness that is so inspiring.... She helped me to improve my violin techniques-both right hand and left hand, and makes me love to play.
