Lara

Hi everyone,
my name is Lara, I am a 27-year-old Galician and culturally aware person, learning and seeking experiences that always push me outside of my comfort zone. I am from a really really small town in the north of Spain, where there are two official languages: Spanish and Galician - a very close-to-portuguese language. Since I was little I could feel the consequences of years of Franco's supression of minority languages and cultures. Galician, which is my mother tongue and therefore my emotional vehicule, was still been rejected, as if learning one language could prevent you from learning another one; as if all the prejudices against that language "just silly people talk in Galician", "galician was just used by illiterate people" had been internalised. I completely refuse that idea, and I will always keep fighting for our rights to express ourselves in the language we feel more confortable with.

In addition, I'm doing my master in clinical, social and intercultural psychology at the University of Padova (Italy) and I love nature, sport and languages.
I have been teaching Spanish for 2 years now and I find it particularly interesting the fact that teaching a foreign language is learning about other people's way of thinking, behaving and feeling. In the end, this type of training is allowing others - and myself- to better communicate their feelings to others whose culture and background has necessarily nothing to do with theirs. Isn't it fascinating?
Furthermore, I'm a quite curious and sociable person, a cheerful and self-reflective one.
