Inspiring Scientific Curiosity and Empowering Future Biologists and Chemists

Hello! My name is Lamlom Tahawy, and I'm a passionate and dedicated biology and chemistry lecturer with a Master's degree in Bioscience from Universitas Sebelas Maret, Indonesia (GPA 3.74/4.0). My journey into the world of science stems from a deep personal motivation to understand and alleviate suffering caused by disease. Witnessing my brother's struggle with an undiagnosed illness ignited in me a desire to unravel complex biological mysteries and contribute to innovative treatments.

What My Lessons are Like:

I believe that the best learning happens when students are actively engaged, challenged, and inspired to think critically. My lessons are designed to foster a collaborative and dynamic learning environment where questions are encouraged, and scientific exploration is the norm. Here's a glimpse of what you can expect:

Interactive Lectures: I don't just lecture at you; I lecture with you. My lectures incorporate real-world examples, case studies, and interactive discussions to bring abstract concepts to life. I strive to make even the most challenging topics, like molecular genetics or reaction mechanisms, accessible and engaging.

Hands-On Laboratory Experiences: I'm a firm believer in learning by doing. My lab sessions are carefully designed to complement the lecture material, providing you with the opportunity to develop essential laboratory techniques, analyze data, and draw your own conclusions. From DNA extraction and PCR to chemical synthesis and spectroscopy, you'll gain practical experience that will set you apart.

Bioinformatics and Data Analysis Integration: In today's scientific landscape, bioinformatics and data analysis skills are essential. I incorporate these tools into my lessons, teaching you how to analyze large datasets, interpret complex genomic information, and draw meaningful insights from experimental results. My master's thesis, which involved DNA barcoding of Centella asiatica, honed my skills in bioinformatics tools like MEGA-X and BLAST, which I am eager to share with you.

Real-World Applications: Science is not just a collection of facts; it's a powerful tool for solving real-world problems. I emphasize the practical applications of biology and chemistry, highlighting how these disciplines can be used to address global challenges such as antibiotic resistance, disease prevention, and environmental sustainability.

Mentorship and Guidance: I'm not just a lecturer; I'm also a mentor. I'm committed to providing you with the support and guidance you need to succeed in your studies and achieve your career goals. Whether you're struggling with a difficult concept or exploring potential research opportunities, I'm here to help you every step of the way.

My Experience:

Master's Research: My master's research focused on the DNA barcoding of Centella asiatica, a medicinal plant with potential antibacterial properties. This project gave me invaluable experience in molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing), bioinformatics analysis, and antimicrobial assays. I have published a thesis on ""Centella asiatica DNA Barcoding: Assessing Antibacterial Potential and Environmental Factors."" This hands-on experience allowed me to independently master critical bioinformatics skills.

Lecturing Experience: I have experience as a Biology Lecturer at Alkhlas Educational Center, where I designed and delivered engaging lesson plans, implemented innovative teaching techniques, and provided personalized feedback to students. I'm passionate about creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

Medical Analysis Background: My experience as a Biologist in medical analysis has given me a deep understanding of the practical applications of biology and chemistry in healthcare. I'm able to connect classroom concepts to real-world medical scenarios, making the material more relevant and engaging for students.

Commitment to Innovation: The world of science is constantly evolving, and I am committed to staying at the forefront of new developments. I am currently exploring the use of AI and single-cell technologies in infection biology, and I am eager to incorporate these cutting-edge techniques into my lessons.

Problem-Solving and Perseverance: As demonstrated by my master's thesis and several published research papers, I am committed and able to get though difficult, with perseverance and problem solving skills.

My Commitment to You:

I am committed to creating a stimulating and rewarding learning experience that empowers you to reach your full potential. My goal is not just to teach you the facts of biology and chemistry but to instill in you a lifelong passion for scientific discovery. I'm excited to embark on this journey with you!
