I start with using a few different methods to assess the literacy student's ability, and to identify their specific gaps. I then tailor each lesson accordingly using a combination of phonics lessons, reading comprehension, reading and spelling exercises, and fun games and exercises to support what we are learning. Each student and their needs are different when it comes to reading and I do my best to use methods that work the best for each individual.

Lessons are best done in person as we predominantly work with a small whiteboard, letter tiles, and worksheets, however I am currently working on online tutoring options. I also utilise card games and other supporting activities.

I mainly follow the TRT (That Reading Thing) curriculum which progressively builds phonemic awareness/learning different spelling patterns and sounds, and incorporates reading, spelling, and writing activities whilst building vocabulary and fluency.
