Lessons by me will revolve solely around the student being taught. The importance of tutoring is to offer students external support that caters towards the ways in which they approach Mathematics, not just the 'ideal' method of understanding topics. The GCSE content taught will be done so in detail to support a complete understanding of each topic. Each individual benefits from different styles of teaching, and thus the format of lessons and the way in which content will be taught, I will shape to the needs of the student. After each lesson, I will give the student the opportunity to say what worked within the lesson and what they would like to change to better suit them. Despite using the word 'student', my age will allow for the lessons to be informal whilst still ensuring all content is being taught. My own personal experiences throughout GCSE Maths are experiences which I hold close to me, and shape the way in which I view the tutoring experience. Constant pressure during tutoring to get it right instantly is not something I support, instead I opt for allowing the student to express the difficulties they face in understanding each topic. Whilst the eventual aim is to understand each topic, it is important that students understand Mathematics through their own lens rather than just understanding the formula they are told works, and thus my tutoring will focus on reaching an eventual goal of confidence for the student in the way they approach each topic, eventually leading to confidence and success in GCSE Mathematics!
