Hello!
I'm a computer science student at the University of Bath. I have a passion for STEM subjects and would love to help you learn and understand them, as they are truly truly fascinating. I studied best teaching practice in school when I did my teaching apprenticeship, and hope to use this in pracitce wiht you. However, most impotantly, I want to work with you. Through trial and error over the years, I have learned the best teaching style for me. I hope to learn what style works best for you, or support you as you learn this, and apply it in order to help you in the best way possible.
I believe in truly understanding concepts rather than just understanding how to earn marks, and will encourage you to do the same. Throughout my studies, I have found that this provides me with the most reward not only in terms of academic achievement but also in personal enrichment.
As for the structure of our sessions, it will depend on two variables. Firstly, how you would like our sessions to move; secondly, what coursework or content you would like to study. In general, I tend to move firstly through the content and ensure that we have a solid understanding of what has been taught and needs to be understood. Then I like to move onto any problems assigned, and if none are assigned, then we can search for or create our own problems in order to assess our knowledge. Finally, I like to reflect with my student at the end of each lesson. In reflection, we ensure that there are no urgent questions that need to be answered, think of further questions we would like to explore, and plan how we can take our knowledged learned or reinforced from today into the future.
