My lessons consist of oral instruction often accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation or other visual representation, although they can also include conversation in the target language with the student.

I am not a native Spanish speaker, although I speak it at a native level. Having learned the language gives me the advantage of knowing how the language works, shortcuts to learning it, and common pitfalls for learners. My having knowledge of other languages can help me draw analogies between Spanish and another language that the learner may already speak, accelerating the learning process.

The lessons can be tailored to any level of fluency, up to and including B2 level, which is what is generally accepted as "fluency" or "proficiency" in a language (and is the level expected of a student studying a Spanish A-Level course).

While vocabulary is more important for general language learning, I teach aspects of grammar wherever it is necessary, not only so that students may speak "correctly", but to allow them to speak spontaneously instead of recalling preset phrases learned by rote.

Alongside a thorough knowledge of the kind of Spanish you would find in a textbook, I have a similar level of knowledge of colloquial Spanish that can be heard in day-to-day life. Learning this can be very beneficial for a student if they plan to travel or speak to native speakers. My Spanish is of the variety spoken in Spain, with no distinct regional influences, although I do know how other dialects sound and can teach them, albeit to a lesser extent.
