My lessons would be 1 hour long (unless the student requests more hours), flexible schedule to work around the needs of the student. Methodology I use is quite simple, more like having a conversation about the topic that we are learning. For example we are learning English and are talking about tenses, after 30 minutes of teaching (if the student is comfortable enough) I might ask in English “how are you? What did you do today?” And let the students answer, if the student answered incorrectly I will correct them but not in a judgmental way but an engaging one. I also like to use intellectual games to engage the student in learning and make it exciting and easy to remember.
The dynamic of the lesson will be according to the speed of the student, I won’t rush or expect a perfect knowledge of the things we have spoken about for the past 30 or 40 minutes. Students will get a little break where we can get to know each other more so the student feels more comfortable learning and I feel more comfortable teaching them, maybe even find an individual approach to every student.
In the first lesson I will be more focused on what the student knows and what we need to work on, also becoming familiar with one another and talk about how the students used to study independently, review their way of learning and help them with whatever they need, and put a plan of lessons accordingly.
