Kris Steele

I am a dedicated, professional, and highly motivated educator, committed to excellence in teaching and training.

Since 2017, I have served as a Civil Servant English Language (Burnham) Lecturer at the UK Defence Academy (MOD). My role is multifaceted, incorporating teaching, training, management, and examining, alongside significant involvement in course and materials development. Here, I am a member of a departmental Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) group that explores the application of tech tools within a creative forum. Prior to this, I worked in the higher education sector, most notably at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (Swansea), where I lectured and played a key role in the development of their online English language testing system.

Earlier in my career, I held a lecturing position at Bilkent University, Ankara, where I designed and taught a Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) task-based syllabus, while also conducting classroom-based action research. Prior to this, I worked for the University of the Arts London as an Academic English Tutor, delivering both Presessional and Insessional language support, study-skills tutoring, and professional proofreading services. Additionally, I have held leadership roles as a Director of Studies and Teacher Trainer in various educational institutions, both in the UK and internationally.

My teaching style is fun and holistic, focusing on learning through set tasks.
