In my role as a primary school teaching assistant over the last three years, I’ve developed a dynamic and engaging teaching style, particularly in phonics and math sessions. My lessons are interactive, focusing on making learning enjoyable and accessible for all students. For phonics, I use games, songs, and visual aids to help students grasp letter sounds and blend them into words. In math, I incorporate hands-on activities like using counting blocks, puzzles, and number games to help children understand basic concepts such as addition, subtraction, and number patterns.
As part of my responsibilities, I also cover classes during PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) time when teachers are in meetings or unavailable. In these sessions, I maintain a structured yet flexible approach to ensure continuity in students’ learning while keeping them engaged.
I hold a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning and am currently working towards becoming a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA). I completed my GCSEs in Maths and Science, giving me a solid foundation in these subjects.
My experience has taught me how to adapt lessons to different learning styles and needs, ensuring all students are supported and challenged. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel confident to participate and express themselves. Whether it’s leading a focused group or taking over a full class, I prioritize building strong relationships with students to boost their learning and overall well-being.
