With a background in teaching Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 both in London and abroad, I am well-versed in planning and delivering engaging lessons. My teaching philosophy emphasises fostering independence in students, enabling them to become lifelong learners. I believe in creating a positive relationships where every child can thrive academically and personally. Tutoring sessions will be different and based around the needs of the learner. I do not subscribe to a "one size fits all" policy.
I take a collaborative approach with parents to plan out the best course of action. We will discuss any additonal learning needs and ways that your child learns best. For instance, to prepare children for the KS2 SATs, I will ensure that your child is confident in both the content of the test papers and also the strategies for answering questiions. In developing early years reading, I will use my extended knowldge of teaching synthetic phonics, along with playing games. In addressing the unique needs of English as an Additional Language (EAL) learners, I have utilised effective strategies such as tailored word mats and the 'talk4writing' scheme.
During the first session, I will conduct a basesline assessment to determine the needs of your child. This will be used to inform planning of future sessions to ensure that your child makes progress.
