Hi!
My name is Kirsten and I am a Pharmacy student at Queen's University Belfast. I teach Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Maths and Spanish (I am a native Spanish speaker).
Here's my teaching method:
I plan to establish your level of competence in your subject of interest during the first few lessons by working through worksheets with you. Once I have established your strengths and weaknesses, I will structure my lessons in the following manner:
Stage 1: I will go through the questions that I assigned at the end of the previous lesson with you to ensure that you understand the concepts that we have already gone through.
Stage 2 - The Teaching Stage: This is where I will introduce new topics and/or topics that you're revising. My goal when teaching maths and physics particularly, is ensuring that you understand the method and reasoning behind calculations, rather than memorising steps as maths is a subject that requires critical thinking and flexibility. I ensure that the student is engaged during the teaching stage, asking questions to check their understanding and to help them draw conclusions and inferences on their own.
Stage 3 - Practice: I will go through a few questions with the student, at a reasonable pace, answer any questions they have and assign them questions that are well suited to their level of knowledge. I want the student to feel challenged but not overwhelmed by the problems I give them.
There will be regular testing of the student's knowledge, and we'll come back to topics that we've already covered because repetitions is key to learning.
I will be available throughout the week to answer any questions you have.
If you feel that this method of teaching will suit your/your child's learning style, please contact me so that we can make arrangements.
Thanks for your time!
Kind regards,
Kirsten
