I offer personalised learning programs that focus on developing students’ art projects at any stage, from KS3, GCSE and A-Level to foundation course preparation, and creative development for adult artists who want to dig deeper into their practice. Through one-to-one tutorials I harness students’ knowledge, skills and creative expression. I draw from my own experience as a practicing artist, and I teach both traditional as well as more experimental approaches to making art. I ensure students experiment and take risks with their work to develop their own creative practice and fulfil their artistic potential.
My classes are taught online using a combination of techniques, from practical demonstrations to solo working time and discussions supported by contextualisation within contemporary and historical art discourses. Students are encouraged to develop their own visual language through experimentations with drawing and painting using a range of wet and dry media, as well as mixed media techniques. The courses are tailored to the individual students’ needs and desires. I teach observational drawing, colour theory and drawing techniques, painting techniques in oil and acrylic and mixed media approaches, as well moving towards more intuitive and expressive ways of making art, including abstracting from visual and sensory stimuli, and thinking through the process of making.
Each session is supported by looking at the work of both modern and contemporary abstract artists, and I suggest further materials for students to revisit in their own time as well as contemporary exhibitions that are relevant to their interest and learning program. I monitor student’s progress by setting homework tasks and I provide tailored individual feedback that is age and experience appropriate.
