I have a passion and enthusiasm for teaching piano, music theory and composition. With a Trinity Diploma and grade 8 distinction in piano performance, as well as a grade 8 distinction in music theory, I have vast experience and knowledge in both sectors. Moreover, I am a scholarship student at Royal Holloway University, specialising in composition, with a particular interest in orchestration, counterpoint and harmony. My philosophy is tailoring each lesson to the specific needs of the student, whilst offering exercises, homework and further reading at the pupil's discretion. Each lesson is divided into 3 parts. The first part is a reflection upon what the student has learnt over the week and whether they have understood any preparation or homework that has been given in the previous lesson. The second part will be the bulk of the lesson with learning, practice and repetition the main attributes I try to install into the pupil's mindset. At the end of the lesson, the final part consists of a brief discussion on the appropriate homework, guided reading and specific topics for the next lesson. Once this is concluded, I shall assign homework at the student's will, and begin planning for the next lesson. I bring energy and enthusiasm to each lesson, and I enjoy working with all students no matter what grade or level they're at.
