Last year I graduated from the University of Plymouth with a Bachelors Degree in Biomedical Sciences and now I am on track to study a Masters in Biotechnology and Bioengineering. I have previous experience in mentoring first year undergraduates teaching them vital study skills such as effective revision techniques, organisational skills, and exam technique. They all become excellent students and have the necessary techniques to become an independent learner.
My lessons will be online and presented through PowerPoint presentations. I will used interactive techniques and programs to make sure the student to make sure the student is engaged with the lesson. This allows them to learn the content more easily. The lessons will be tailored to the student by basing it on the student's academic ability, personality, and their future ambitions. While teaching the content, I would relate the content to real world applications so they have better understanding and value the subject better. We will regular practice vital study skills as well so the student can became an effective independent learner for the future. The lessons will always end with exam questions to assess on how much the student has learned while assessing whether the student needs further help.
I like to maintain a relaxed learning environment where I don't criticise the student but instead encourage them to learn. I would give the student positive reinforcement when they make good progress to make sure the student enjoys learning and not hates it. Finally, I am extremely passionate about teaching and hope to guide students to achieve their full potential.
