I am a Chemical Engineer with a BEng qualification and 4-years of working experience. Throughout my school and university days, I always enjoyed mathematical subjects and found that I also enjoyed being able to share information I had with others. Consequently, I have developed significant experience tutoring classmates, younger students and friends/family both formally and informally. I believe that the best approach is to first allow the student to explain where they are at, what they find comfortable and where they are struggling. I firmly believe that I am here to help you personally and not to lecture anybody without direction. Having developed an initial rapport and identified strengths/weaknesses, we can get into the nitty gritty focusing on areas that can be applied across multiple topics. The key to me is to develop the foundational knowledge, which can be utilised throughout the subject and not confined to one or two specific questions. All of this learning will be collaborative, with the student always directing the course of discussion to suit their needs. As I will be providing remote, online lessons, I will utilise computer-based material to assist with the lessons. This will be tailored to the student based on discussions from previous lessons etc. I believe that my primary qualities as a tutor are my years of experience of learning and teaching mathematics and physics throughout school and college, my collaborative approach dictated by the student's needs and pace, and my warm demeanour. I am always open to any question from the student and like to think that they will be comfortable asking me as they see fit.
