My lessons will be fun, informative and sprinkled with real life experiences from my long career in the UK fashion industry. The significant people I have known and still work with and my vast experience of the world of overseas sourcing and retail markets. My 8 years of teaching in the higher education sector plus qualifications such as a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education and awards of A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Chartered Member of the Textiles Institute, will underpin my industry knowledge with sound educational experience and skills.
My content will include all aspects of fashion buying, merchandising and marketing. In particular, sourcing, range building, costing, importing, stock management, budgets and strategic planning. We will cover the importance of data and it's impact on customer relationships and the future of AI, AR and the Metaverse. Sustainability, Ethical trading and the Circular economy will form a key aspect of the exploration and search for solutions to slowing down fast fashion.
The delivery will be in person or online ( maybe a combination of both) I will utilize Power point, Excel, case studies, set group or individual study tasks and online learning games like Kahoot. Where appropriate courses will also include industry professionals providing guest lecture spots to offer their unique input and knowledge of the latest industry developments. whatever the level of the students awareness and experiences of the fashion industry I am confident that the material and learning experience will be both rewarding and worthwhile.
