I am a trained primary school teacher in Scotland! For me it is important that together, the student and I set goals to make the lessons more achievable. This is because if the studnets knows what they are learning about, and has a reasonable goal, they are more likely to feel successful at the end of the session. I use concrete and pictorial methods to make the learning visible, to explain confusing terms and methods to students. This means I work with the student to find their learning method. I am confident teaching all subjects, especially maths and literacy. i have worked with a range of studnets, from P1 - P7, with a range of abilities. This means I am able to make the leanring suitable for the learner, so that it is targeted in a way that is understandable for them. This includes working with studnets in an upper level classroom on their phonics and early reading, or challenging students in early level classrooms in their maths abilities. During university I studied science and so I am keen to teach and engage students in science topics. One important science skill I use in my teaching is the idea of wonder, and curiosity. By encouraging the studnets to ask questions, they gain curiosity and excitement about what they are leanring, making them more likely learn about their subject. Once they start asking questions, together we can find out the answers to them, and work towards a point where the studnets are confident in themselves to answer their questions.
