Using the Maths Mastery approach, my focus is on developing core mathematical understanding and reasoning, not just rote memorisation. We will work on problem solving, confidence, and deeper comprehension.
I work with a tailored 1:1 approach, developing individual games, activities, worksheets, and problem solving, created to work with each child’s strengths and weaknesses. Exam preparation and home tutoring can be stressful for some children, and I put focus on making it enjoyable, fun, and exciting for each child. I have previously tutored with families temporarily missing formal education due to mental health and well-being, or home schooling due to individual circumstances, and understand the need for caring and specialised teaching in these situations.
I will start by discussing your child’s needs with you, and what you’re looking for from the sessions. I then begin working individually with your child. Each session will cover previous understanding, following with targeted instruction and practice, to reach your end goal. I will send home some additional work, mostly repetition work to solidify what we’ve covered.
I have studied child development of mathematical thinking, and worked closely within schools and the curriculum at all ages, and key stages, and have a deep understanding of exam preparation and ongoing tutoring needs.
I’m comfortable with KS1, learning the basic fundamentals of place value and times tables, to higher GCSE level trigonometry and algebraic manipulation.
I will stay regularly in touch with parents to discuss further needs, goals, and assess understanding - giving your child the best chance at academic success!
