I am a full time artist with over thirty years experience of working in the arts. I have attended art school training and exhibited my own work locally. I am most interested in abstract art and work in this area everyday. I have a very open-ended approach to art making that explores process, spontaneity and free flow. The lessons are aimed at discovery enhancing and exploration in a enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere. Students are encouraged to develop competence and feel supported in making decisions that value their own choices and decision making. I believe their are no right or wrong decisions in art making just ones that sustain and develop the artwork. Students will explore colour, form and mark making approaches using acrylic or oil paint aimed at becoming versatile in their application. There will also be opportunities to use different supports including canvas, paper board and paper. I encourage students to keep their own visual diary and online portfolio keeping an archive of their work and creative development. This can be useful in future career steps and application to art training establishments. I am able to offer students career advice and support in furthering an arts based education. I am also able to coach students of all ages in a wide range of art styles and have a very good knowledge of art history and its development. I am particularly interested in abstract expressionism and post war British and European art. I have a broad knowledge of art history.
