My lessons are fun, engaging and adaptable to your child's learning style. I use a combination of interactive games, visuals representations, every life experiences, videos, worksheets and maths manipulatives (physical objects) to support children's learning.

When teaching Maths, I aim to develop both the procedural and conceptual understanding for the focused area of the curriculum. Each lesson will begin with fun, creative and structured starters that focus on recapping previous learning. The starters can also be used to address identified gaps in learning - especially those key foundational and fundamental skills that your child needs in order to move their learning forward. My approach to tackling complex maths problems is to put them in a real-life context; break down the problems to make it accessible and give the children different strategies they can use to arrive at an answer.

I believe reading and grammatical understanding are key ingredients that help a child become an able writer. Exposing children to different genres of texts and giving them the opportunity to discuss and analyse will further enhance a child's ability to write cohesively and with their audience in mind. This is why I incorporate all of these when teaching Writing. I also work with a child to generate vocabulary that can be used in their writing. In addition to the above, I use engaging stimuli videos and pictures to awaken children's creativity and imagination.

For my Reading lessons, we will share-read and discuss unfamiliar vocabulary to further facilitate children's understanding of the text. The chosen text (can be short or long ) will be tailored to your child's ability. Following our shared-read, depending on your child's ability, we will focus one or two (or more than two) curriculum objective/s at a time. Your child will be given ample opportunities to practice various questions (with support and independently) on the curriculum objective we're focusing on. This objective will be revisited in the next session through the marking of homework or lesson starter.
