I am highly experienced in tutoring and training mathematics, science, and engineering coursework. I have been in the engineering industry for over 6 years training younger engineers as well as my peers. Prior to working in the industry, I taught and tutored students in primary school and secondary school. I worked alongside professors and teachers as well as provide individual lessons to students. I am passionate about teaching and I provide an environment that is encouraging and welcoming to my students. I typically will meet with the student to learn more about their learning styles, expectations, and goals. This helps me put together a learning plan that will be appropriate and fun for each student to keep you engaged. I like to keep the lessons positive and conversational, rather than a lecture format. I also have experience training in engineering programs and design skills at a corporate level.
I have experience private tutoring and small group teaching mathematics from Pre-Algebra to Calculus I and Geometry and Trigonometry. I also have tutored science courses including Physics I and Environmental Science. In addition, I have taught large classes, small groups, and 1:1 for engineering topics such as Matlab, Microsoft Excel and VBA, ArcMap and GIS applications, and open channel flow. I have done extensive training in technical software such as HEC-RAS and AutoCAD Civil 3D. I would feel comfortable teaching and tutoring on many additional engineering, math, and science courses or topics if the opportunity presented itself. I also make sure to prepare by purchasing relevant course material such as textbooks and creating lesson plans or practice problems prior to tutoring sessions.
