If the student is a beginner I focus on understanding repetition and grammar. If they are at or near entering a University level I work at Suring up the formulaic ways to write an essay, making sure everything relates back...
I never teach the same way twice. I asses the needs of every student as an individual and teach to their specific needs. Depending on the level, I adjust what need to be done. If the student is a beginner I focus on understanding repetition and grammar. If they are at or near entering a University level I work at Suring up the formulaic ways to write an essay, making sure everything relates back to the thesis. Sometimes I will focus on conversation with the student and other times I will take on more of an editor role. Looking into what they wrote or helping them understand a more academic article. Anything from history homework to reading Shakespeare is fair game.
