My approach to teaching is very organic. I want the focus to be on what the students want to gain from the sessions. Having a smiley and relaxed personality, I hope that the lessons will not feel like a chore, but something to look forward to.

The first lesson will likely be observational studies which will include photography, collecting secondary images / any images that are found to be of interest, and experimenting with different drawing mediums to create designs. Making mistakes is all part of the process and much can be learned from them, so I encourage students to experiment and think outside the box.
Depending on whether the student is more fine art focused or textile focus, the lessons will be tailored to them. I may suggest websites/ books to look at (optional) that may inspire them.
Colour theory will also play heavily within lessons to understand colour well and how to use it effectively for their artwork/ design. This would involve using gouache paint (designer paint) to mix colours to gain further understanding of this.
I try not to talk too much, but will ask whether things make sense and whether any questions need to be answered. The focus of the lessons will be more ‘doing’ so that the student gains confidence and has the practical experience.
Overall, I just hope that the student will find the lessons beneficial, fun and relaxed !
