Kayleigh in a nutshell
Each lesson is tailored to the student I am teaching. Some students prefer a fun and relaxed lesson, while other students prefer a calm and more focused lesson.
I accommodate to the needs of the student, because I believe engagement is the key to all successful learning.

For younger children, (aged 5-10) I use a lot of pictures, colours and descriptive writing to keep them engaged.

For children aged 11-14, I try to incorporate modern life into teaching, to keep them more engaged. For example, asking a 13 year old student to write a presentation on their favourite social media site, is more likely to keep them engaged than traditional subject areas for presentation.

With all students, I focus on descriptive writing, spelling, appropriate language and what words stand out more to create a more vibrant read.

Poetry and songwriting is an important part of my lessons, as these subject areas teach all students how to express themselves. It gives students a chance to focus on an area, or emotion, that they feel the most connected to.

I have been writing poetry for over 20 years and writing short stories for over 15 years.
I have tutored children, including my own, for over 10 years both in person and online and I have built a reputation as the fun tutor that loves to listen. I find I myself learning something from every one of my students. They have taught me patience and compassion and how important those things are when teaching a variety of ages.

Kayleigh was a fantastic tutor for my daughter. She helped keep my daughter focused whilst still having fun and brought my daughters English grade up from a D, to a B within a few weeks. Kayleigh tutored my daughter for several months, to make sure the consistency stuck, and now my daughter is always getting high grades in her English tests. We will be contacting Kayleigh to help our son with his Maths skills soon too. I would highly recommend her.
